Dr. Brock Magruder, Sr., M.D.
Orlando native and founder of the Magruder Eye Institute,
Dr. Magruder has been a pioneer in the field of ophthalmology for over 40
years. In his ongoing quest to provide services that are in demand, he recognized
the need for a premiere aesthetics center - and thus Magruder Aesthetics
Center was born.
Dr. Magruder graduated from the Emory University School of Medicine in 1956
and then completed a three-year residency at New York Hospital Cornell University
Medical Center in New York City. He is a member of the American College
of Eye Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery.
He served as Chief of Ophthalmology and Chief of the medical Staff at Holiday
Hospital in Orlando as well as chief of Ophthalmology and President of the
Medical Staff at Orlando Regional Health Center.
Dr. Magruder currently serves on the board of the Crummer School of Business
of Rollins College in Winter Park and as President of the Chesley G. Magruder
Foundation in Central Florida.
Dr. Ivan Tarle, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Ivan Tarle joined the Magruder Eye Institute in August 2001. After graduating with honors from California Institute of Technology, he attended Washington University school of Medicine where he earned both a Medical degree and a PhD Degree in Biochemistry. Following residencies at the University of Tennessee and the University of South Florida, Dr. Tarle completed a prestigious Oculoplastics Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. He is a board certified Ophthalmologist.
Dr. Tarle’s expertise is in the fields of Ocuplastics, General Ophthalmology and Aesthetics. He performs exclusively cosmetic and reconstructive procedures around the eyes, face and head. These include eyelid and facial surgery, eyelid skin cancer resection and reconstruction, tearing problems and orbital surgery. These procedures address such problems as drooping eyelids, sagging brows and wrinkles around the eyes as well as minimally invasive forehead lifts. He also performs in-office procedures including Botox injections
Dr. Tarle is on active staff at Orlando Health and Lakeside Surgery Center. He is a member of the American Academy of the ophthalmology and the Florida Society of Ophthalmology. Dr. Tarle served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He has authored articles in various leading scientific and ophthalmic journals.
Dr. Kelly Herschel, M.D.
Dr. Kelly Herschel brings a significant and an impressive
diversity of skills to the Magruder Eye Institute with subspecialty training
in three different areas of ophthalmology; cornea, refractive surgery, and
oculoplastics.
After graduating magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in math and
physics, Dr. Herschel went on to receive his medical degree from the University
of Oklahoma and did his residency at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation
in New Orleans, where in his senior year, he served as chief resident. Thereafter,
Dr. Herschel continued his training and underwent a two-year fellowship
at the Louisiana State University Eye Center in New Orleans. As chief fellow
at the Louisiana State University Eye Center, Dr. Herschel coordinated the
state III FDA trials on myopic photorefractive keratotomy (PRK) and later,
hyperopic PRK. Thereupon, Dr. Herschel joined a prestigious practice in
Dallas where he perfected his surgical skills and began performing Lasik
procedures after the FDA approval of PRK in 1996. Prior to joining the Magruder
Eye Institute, Dr. Herschel, again, elected to enhance his training and
underwent a third fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at Beraja Eye Institute
in Miami. Dr. Herschel is a noted instructor for numerous refractive surgery
skills transfer courses.
Dr. Herschel is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery,
the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Herschel joined the Magruder Eye Institute in the year 2000. He practices
general ophthalmology while specializing in cataract surgery, complex refractive
surgery and corneal problems. He is one of the few ophthalmologists across
the country that is qualified to implant the Crystalens. This is the first
and only accommodating intraocular lens in the U.S. He is the only ophthalmologist
in Central Florida qualified to implant the Verisye phakic intraocular lens
for severe myopia.
Dr. LINDA GILLILAND, PhD, ARNP
Dr. Gilliland devotes her practice exclusively to non-surgical
cosmetic enhancements. She attended the University of Florida where she
received a Masters Degree and PhD in Nursing with research in the quality
of preventive health care. She has extensive training in aesthetics, including
training through Tulane University's Medical School.
Dr. Gilliland joined Magruder Aesthetics in 2005. She brings the most advanced
techniques to cosmetic non-surgical enhancement procedures for the face
and neck. These procedures reverse signs of aging that result in fine lines,
skin folds, skin laxity and facial asymmetry around the mouth, eyes, forehead
and neck. Botox, Restylane, Radiesse, and Laser are just a few of the methods
used by Dr. Gilliland to reverse signs of aging and enhance your appearance.
Dr. Gilliland also treats spider veins in the legs with sclerotherapy.
Dr. Gilliland is a member of the American Academy of
Aesthetic Medicine. She currently serves as a national trainer for Aesthetic
Advancements, Inc., providing advanced training to other health care providers.
